It features authentic Aboriginal Art from the Mowanjum Community and out-stations.
After lunch and back in town we drive to the Wharfinger’s House Museum and the Norval Art Gallery. This gallery is run by the Kimberley artists Mark and Mary. You will find amazing artwork here including a wonderful and unique collection of carved boab tree nuts. Now it is time to head to the Derby jetty. Fitzroy Crossing and Geike Gorge Cruise, the best example of Devonian Reef in the Kimberley and Tour to Kununurra Day 4 and 5
This morning our journey takes us to Fitzroy Crossing. Here we will explore Geikie Gorge which was formed by the Fitzroy River and the level of the river during the Kimberley wet season can rise by up to 16.5 metres. The limestone walls where originally formed by a coral reef, algae and lime secreting organisms that are now extinct. The remains of the reef now stand up to 100 metres above the plains as the mighty Fitzroy courses through them. Geikie Gorge is the best example of the Devonian time and we will take a fabulous cruise exploring the wonderful gorge and natural habitat of freshwater crocodiles. There is time for a refreshing swim in the Fitzroy River before our short journey to our accommodation for tonight. (Day 4 Fitzroy River Lodge En-suited Safari Tents, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Sit back and enjoy the drive as we travel through open grasslands and vast floodplains towards Kununurra. On route we stop in Halls Creek at one of the best information centres in the area. Continue your journey onto Kununurra located on the eastern edge of the Kimberley and home to plantations of sandalwood, mangoes, citrus, chia and melons. Upon arrival we check into our rooms for the next five nights. There is time for a walk to the local lagoon surrounded by boab trees and home to an array of birds. Today we travel to the only Zebra Rock Mine in the world and you can witness with your own eyes a deposit of unique and mysterious rock. Geologists are yet to determine its origin but know it all evolved 600 million years ago. Zebra Rock could only ever be found here in the East Kimberley and we will head out to the mining site. Choose your own small favourite rock to take home. We watch how the rock is polished and creates such wonderful pieces of art. View the gallery of very special rocks after lunch and there are also some fabulous jewellery or raw deposits to buy.
We drive back to Kununurra and embark on an afternoon and dinner sunset cruise on Lake Kununurra. Sit back and relax on the MV Jabiru as we wind through Lily Creek, view the Sleeping Buddha, the Diversion Dam and fantastic birdlife – a perfect way to end a fabulous day in the Kimberley. (Day 6 Kununurra 4.5 Star Freshwater Apartments, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
The Kimberley region is home to one of the most recognized features – the Purnululu National Park also called the Bungle Bungles. Purnululu means “sandstone” a name given to the area by the traditional owners of the land the Kitja people. The park is accessible by air or along a very long and unforgiving 4WD track.
This morning we board our plane to this incredible and world heritage listed National Park. The flight path takes us over the Bungle Bungle Range, Lake Argyle, the Argyle Diamond Mine and the Ord River Irrigation Area. We will also see the stunning Carr Boyd Ranges, Osmond Ranges, the Ord River and Bow River before landing at the remote Bellburn Airstrip. From here we take a short drive and have time to explore various parts of this unique National Park. The highest peaks reach 578 metres above sea level and the famous sandstone domes are unusual and visually striking with their striping in alternating orange and grey bands. Walk to Cathedral Gorge a large natural amphitheatre. Sit on the rock ledges, listen to the acoustics and absorb the atmosphere. In addition good walkers have time to walk to the Piccaninny Lookout along the dry creek bed.
There are also alternative shorter walks available for the less active travellers and seniors. Take in the sheer magnitude of Purnululu National Park with an optional 18 minute scenic helicopter flight over the breath-taking Bungle Bungle Range and the spectacular Piccaninny Gorge. We return to Bellburn Airstrip and depart this World Heritage Area of the Kimberley by plane to Kununurra. Our day in the Bungle Bungles is sure to be one of the many highlights on our Kimberley Tours. (Day 7 Kununurra 4.5 Star Freshwater Apartments, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Mitchell Plateau and Falls, Durack Homestead, Lake Argyle and Ord River Cruise Day 8 and 9 Tour Highlights
The Kimberley region is home to an array of wonderful landscapes and another full day of stunning scenery awaits us on our tour today. We start with a 70 km informative coach tour to Lake Argyle along one of Australia’s most scenic drives. At Lake Argyle we will drop by the historic Durack Homestead Museum before visiting the Lake Argyle Resort and Infinity Pool. After a brief comfort stop, we will board the Kimberley Durack, for our awe inspiring 3-hour Lake Argyle Luncheon cruise including a swim in the pristine waters.
We return by a spectacular boat cruise down the Ord River through Carlton Gorge and Lake Kununurra, where we will enjoy stunning scenery and an array of wildlife, including crocodiles, flying foxes and birds. We take a very short drive back to our fabulous accommodation. (Day 8 Kununurra 4.5 Star Freshwater Apartments, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
The Mitchell Plateau and the Mitchell Falls are iconic landmarks of the Kimberley and we travel in comfort and style to witness this incredible area. Fly over the beautifully patterned mud flats near Wyndham, the magnificent King River, Berkeley River Gorge, King George Falls, and Kalumburu to the remote Mitchell Plateau Airstrip. Here we will disembark and take a short helicopter transfer to the beginning of the walk into the Mitchell Falls. This beautiful 4.5-kilometer hike can be challenging at points, with uneven tracks and river crossings, so there is an option to take a helicopter transfer straight from the airstrip to the falls. Once we arrive at the Mitchell Falls, we will have time to marvel at their beauty and also take a swim in the Mitchell River above the Falls. Admire the fascinating flora and fauna of this area and enjoy a fresh picnic-style lunch. Enjoy a short helicopter flight from the top of the Falls back to the Mitchell Plateau airstrip. Pass over El Questro and the Cockburn Range on our return flight path before touching down in Kununurra.
Upon arrival we visit the local Sandalwood factory, a great place to learn, smell and buy some great gifts for home. We finish the day with a refreshing visit to the Hoochery Distillery the oldest continuously operation distillery in Western Australia. Taste the award winning rum, whiskey or coffee liqueur. Back at our fabulous apartments why not go for a swim in the pool or just kick back and relax in comfort before dinner. (Day 9 Kununurra 4.5 Star Freshwater Apartments, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Waringarri Art Trail and Mirima National Park, Hoochery Distillery, Sandalwood Factory, Airport Drop Off Day 10

Hear about dreamtime stories, taste home-made damper and bush foods before a walk in Mirima National Park, known as Hidden Valley National Park or the Mini Bungle Bungles with its 350-million-year-old rock formations.
For lunch we drive to the Hoochery Distillery, the makers of the finest Rum in the West and a place of genuine hospitality. Our fantastic 10 Day Kimberley Tour has come to an end and we drop you off at the airport for a flight home or to your next destination. (Day 10 Breakfast, Lunch)
