Lake Eyre Tour from Adelaide
We are welcoming you on board on one of our Lake Eyre Tours and pick you up from your Adelaide city hotel. Travel along the Explorer Highway to Port Augusta with our first stop in Lochiel. The pink salt lake is a great photo opportunity and we also look for Loch Eel rising out of the salt lake.
After lunch we have plenty of time to explore the wildflowers, themed gardens and walking trails at the Arid Lands Botanical Gardens. Admire the native birds, listen to their sound and stroll past artistic outdoor sculptures. Port Augusta is also home to the award winning Wadlata Outback Centre. Learn about fossils, minerals, wildlife and the past of this region or check out the gift shop with its extensive range of books, maps and souvenirs. We will check into our accommodation before a delicious dinner at Ian’s Western Hotel. Day 1 Lunch, Dinner, Port Augusta Standpipe overnight
Travel to Coober Pedy and Woomera Rocket Range
After a comfortable sleep and breakfast we continue our Lake Eyre Tour further north. Our first stop takes us to the well-known Woomera Rocket Range. Check out the Missle Park and listen to Len Beadells story as we venture further north to Coober Pedy. Coober Pedy, which was once a rocky, dusty desert plain and is now the opal mining capital of the world. Take your first look at the unique moonscape and bizarre township as we are driving into town. We check into our underground motel with a lookout over Coober Pedys landscape. After settling in we head out to the Kanku- Breakaways Conservation Park for some amazing photo opportunities. Finish the day with a delicious dinner in town before retiring underground. Day 2 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Coober Pedy Lookout Cave overnight
Coober Pedy Tour and Journey to William Creek
Hard to know the sun is up when you sleep underground, but trust your stomach will tell you it is breakfast time. Today we explore more of Coober Pedy and its surrounds. Visit a working opal mine, learn about the qualities of opal, walk into an underground church and try your luck at noodling for opal in the town’s mullock piles. After lunch it is time to wave goodbye. All back on board we travel through South Australia’s outback destined for William Creek. It is not only the smallest town of Australia, it is also situated on the largest working cattle station – Anna Creek Station. Finish the day with a tasty dinner and mingle with the locals at the William Creek Pub. Day 3 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, William Creek Cabins overnight
Lake Eyre Scenic Flight and Walk to the Edge of South Lake Eyre, Marree
Get up early and take a scenic flight over North Lake Eyre. We fly from William Creek, the closest airstrip to the lake. Lake Eyre is the largest salt lake in the Southern Hemisphere and more often dry than not. But when soaking rain does fall or flood waters drain into Lake Eyre, this dry land fills with lives. Thousands of pelicans, banded stilts and gulls fly in from as far away as North Queensland, flowers bloom and plants grow at a breakneck pace. No matter if Lake Eyre’s status is dry or wet, a scenic flight over Lake Eyre gives you a true sense of the wilderness, remoteness and the enormous size of it.
After our Lake Eyre scenic flight we depart for Marree. Our first stop brings us to the viewing area of South Lake Eyre. Take the short walk to the edge of the lake to get an up close experience with Lake Eyre. Back on the road we follow the Oodnadatta Track to Marree which is located at the turn off to the Birdsville Track. Discover the history and visit the Afghan Mosque before heading further south to Leigh Creek. Once supplying all the needs for the working families in the coal mining industry, the town has now opened up to tourism. We will stay the night and enjoy a delicious dinner. Day 4 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Leigh Creek Outback Resort overnight
Touring through Outback Town Hawker and Clare Valley Wine Tasting
Our final day has arrived and we take the scenic route back to Adelaide. We drive south through the country towns of Hawker, Eurelia and Oororoo. After lunch we take you to the beautiful Clare Valley one of the oldest wine regions in Australia. Enjoy a delicious wine tasting at one of the cellar doors. We are now on the home stretch to Adelaide and our great Lake Eyre Tour is coming to an end. Arrive back in Adelaide by 5pm. Day 5 Breakfast, Lunch included

Loved every minute of our 5 day tour with Flick and Rita! These guys are such fun, and couldn’t do enough for us. All our attraction visits were great! We loved seeing the opal mine in Coober Pedy, and staying at the William Creek Hotel grounds including flying over Lake Eyre and the Painted Hills! This was such good value, and we would love to tour with them again! They even give you ‘Frequent Flick Points’ on your next tour! Do yourself a favour and give these guys a go!Trevor and Janine
