Murray River Cruise Itinerary

Depart Adelaide around 9 am and start this beautiful journey with a drive to Hahndorf, the historic and popular German settlement in the Adelaide Hills. Here we visit the oldest artist studio in Australia and the historic home of Hans Heysen, The Cedars. It is still owned by members of the Heysen family and the guided tour takes you through the house, studio and beautiful gardens.

Furthermore Hahndorf offers great shops and delicacies and you have time to explore after our fabulous German lunch. There are a few cellar doors in the main street and how about a wine tasting at Mojo’s celllar door, located in a stone cottage built in 1845 with lots of charm and rustic atmosphere. Now it is time to make our way to Mannum, where we board our truly luxurious houseboat casting off to Younghusband for the night. Day 1 Lunch and Dinner, Murray River overnight  

Wake up to a view of the Mighty Murray in all its contrasting landscapes. Take a refreshing dip or a morning stroll along the river bank before we navigate through the myriad of bends on one of the world’s most incredible and diverse river systems. Not only is the scenery of stunning beauty, so is our boat stacked with many great features. Each cabin has panoramic windows with magnificent views of the river. there are several sun decks, stereo, cocktail bar, a large lounge/dining and of course a kitchen area where we serve up tasty gourmet meals.  Day 2 Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, Murray River overnight 

After another peaceful night and a relaxing breakfast, we make our way to Big Bend. We arrive early afternoon and have time to paddle in a canoe through the backwaters, read a book or drop in a line and try catching a giant Murray Cod or Catfish. Start the evening with delicious appetisers and watch the spectacular colour changes of the Murray River cliffs. We continue our Big Bend experience with a wonderful dinner in the authentic shearing shed and finish the night with an entertaining nocturnal bushland tour. Day 3 Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, Murray River overnight 

It is photographers, painters or anyone’s delight seeing the sun rise through the giant river red gums and bringing the day to life along the Murray. Today we travel by bus to Salter’s winery. A tour of this Riverland vineyard and wetlands followed by a structured tasting puts some of the Riverland’s wines on show. Walk to the first lock of the Murray River after lunch at the historical Blanchetown Hotel. Back on board our luxury boat, we cruise to Ngaut Ngaut. Surrounded by stunning cliffs it is sure to be another great sunset display. Day 4 Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, Murray River overnight

Start the morning with a visit to Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve and take a fully guided walk along the limestone cliffs discovering ancient rock carvings. Reconnect with the Murray River culture, the history and learn about the importance of the land to the people living here. We start cruising back down the Murray River along impressive backdrops of limestone cliffs and Mallee country. We arrive at Walkers Flat where we moor for tonight. Day 5 Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, Murray River overnight 

With one full day left to recharge, we cruise further towards Mannum. Being on one of the biggest houseboats in Australia there are so many places to enjoy and relax. The sun deck on level three has perfect 360 degree views or sit at the bow of the boat and be the first spotting rare bird species. There is time for more canoeing and short walks. Dine in style on our last supper together on board this truly unforgettable river cruise. Dance into the night or finish off with a relaxing bath in the on-board heated jacuzzi.  Day 6 Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, Murray River overnight 

On our last day our bus awaits us and we drive to Barossa Valley, Australia’s best known wine region. Our first stop takes us to Maggie Beer Farm Shop, where you can taste all the different pate, jams, sauces and pastes on offer. Maggie Beer is a well-known cook, writer and founder of the Maggie Beer product range. We continue spoiling our taste buds with the delicious wines and a lunch in the Barossa Valley. Fully recharged and with memories of a very special Murray River Cruise – it is time to drive back to Adelaide. Arrive at your hotel mid-afternoon or let us take you to the airport for a flight back home. Day 7 Breakfast and Lunch
