Lake Eyre Flinders Ranges Tour from Adelaide
Depart Adelaide at 6.30am and let us take you on a tour filled with a bucket load of highlights. Our drive takes us up the Explorer Highway and we stop at the picturesque pink salt lake of Lochiel. We then make our way to Quorn with time for a discovery walk around the historic railway town. Enjoy a very interesting break at the Kanyaka Station Ruins for a look at how the pioneers lived. Not far to go we take on the last stretch to the Flinders Ranges National Park.
Discover the rugged ranges on a walk to the Hills Homestead located in Wilpena Pound and marvel at the views from Wangara Lookout. Plenty of photographic opportunities as we walk through the Pound Gap past the Sliding Rock. With a little bit of luck, we may even see the endagered Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby. We travel to the most photographed tree in the Flinders Ranges, the Cazneaux Tree before returning to Wilpena Pound Resort. Watch the sun set over the ranges before dinner and retire early for day tour to Lake Eyre tomorrow.
(Day 1 Lunch and Dinner, Wilpena Pound Resort Overnight)
Day Tour to Lake Eyre, William Creek and Painted Hills

We pass over Parachilna, the Leigh Creek open-cut coal fields, the township of Marree, Muloorina Station and the awe-inspiring Lake Eyre. After marveling at the wonders of Lake Eyre, we land at the remote town of William Creek for lunch, which had a population of 10 at the last count. There is time to check out some memorabilia at William Creek before our return flight via the beautiful Painted Hills, the Breakaway Country, the Andamooka opal fields and Lake Torrens. Back at Wilpena Pound Resort take a walk along the Wilpena Creek Trail or just sit back, relax and take in all the impressions of today’s Lake Eyre Tour. For sunset we take you to Stokes Hill Lookout. Enjoy some nibbles, sparkling and the magnificent 360-degree views of the Flinders Ranges as the sun sets.
