Grampians Walking

A great tour for all ages and active seniors. There are plenty of shorter walks available and you can choose between shorter and longer walks.

Join our small group holiday to the Grampians National Park from Adelaide.

Depart Adelaide by 7.30am and start the journey to the Grampians, a major Victorian attraction. It is one of the world’s oldest and most spectacular mountain ranges, rich in Aboriginal history and with an abundance of wildlife. This Grampians Tour is sure to leave you in awe. We will stay overnight in the heart of Halls Gap, the Gateway to a rich diversity of flora, fauna, rock formations, bush walking and more.  Day 1 Lunch, Dinner, Halls Gap overnight

Start the day with a visit to the Brambuk Culture Centre, a building shaped like a cockatoo (brambuk). There are very interesting displays, a great gift shop, a café and sculptures outside. Enjoy the short Fryans Creek Loop walk from the culture centre and discover some wildlife along the way. Well informed we drive to our first impressive lookout – Boroka Lookout. View the spectacular Mount William Ranges and the picturesque village of Halls Gap nestled between the mountain ranges. With only half a day gone, we make our way deeper into the Grampians National Park. After our picnic lunch, we walk to the MacKenzie Falls, which flows year-round and is one of Victoria’s largest and most spectacular waterfalls. Our next stop is the Reed Lookout with views to the Victoria Valley. The Balconies, two sandstone rocks jutting from a cliff face also known as the “Jaws of Death”, are another place to take in the panoramic views of this beautiful valley. It is time to head back to Halls Gap for a delicious dinner and a second night at our accommodation. Day 2 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Halls Gap overnight

After a hearty breakfast we head to the Grampians Wonderland with a choice of two hikes. A five-hour return hike from our accommodation or a shorter two-and-a-half-hour medium hike from the Wonderland car park. Either hike will leave us well rewarded with the spectacular sights they offer. For those not wanting to walk that far, why not take the easy stroll along the Venus Bath Loop. The track winds along the creek and past some towering sandstone cliffs. Mid-afternoon you have time to explore the town and you might like to visit Steve Morvell’s art studio. Steve is a highly acclaimed nature artist and his work is truly stunning. Back at our accommodation we enjoy our last dinner together. Day 3 Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Halls Gap overnight

You thought this Explorer Tour was finished, not quite yet. Come and discover the Heatherlie Quarry a significant historic landmark to the Grampians. Less than 14km north of Halls Gap we find winches, hoppers, remains of a steam engine and a crane and also three old stone cottages. After this very interesting 2km walk it is time to make our way back to Adelaide. Our journey will take us through some of South Australia´s most beautiful country side. We travel through Horsham onto Naracoorte and it´s caves, South Australia´s only World Heritage site. The Naracoorte Caves have an extensive fossil record and we learn about the history of the past half a million years on a guided tour into the Victoria Fossil Cave. We continue our return travel to Adelaide arriving around 7.30 pm. Day 4 Breakfast, Lunch
